All smiles as Princess of Wales makes appearance at Wimbledon

England’s Catherine, Princess of Wales, arrived smiling at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships today as she watched the men’s final, in her second public appearance this year as she undergoes chemotherapy for cancer cancer.

The tennis fan and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon wore a bright purple dress as she walked in with her daughter, Princess Charlotte, before the match at between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. When she arrived at the royal box in Center Court to take her seat, Catherine greeted the spectators, some holding Union Jack flags, who gave her a standing ovation.

The Princess of Wales, 42, wife of the heir to the throne, Prince William, underwent major abdominal surgery in January which revealed the presence of cancer. He has been receiving treatment ever since.

He made his return to public office in June during Trooping the Color, the annual military parade marking Charles’ birthday, and said he hoped to attend other events over the summer. “I’m making good progress, but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days,” he said in a personal text message before this appearance.

My treatment is going on and will be for a few more months, said the princess. His office, Kensington Palace, refused to give details about the type of cancer or his condition, saying only that treatment began in February.

Charles, 75, is also undergoing treatment for cancer. He returned to public duty in April and remains active, despite his limited daily commitment to minimize the risks to his recovery.
