Selangor Red Giants score million-dollar first in e-sports

The Selangor Red Giants ended Malaysia’s seven-year drought in international e-sports by defeating the Philippines’ Falcons AP Bren Sport 4-2 in the Mid Season Cup Mobile Legends Bang Bang 2024 tonight.

In the grand final held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, SRG started off on the wrong foot, scoring 23 to 16 in the first game. However, they made a comeback in the second game, posting a strong performance in a 1-1 draw, despite AP Bren leading with 14 kills and 11.

This momentum was not maintained in the third game, resulting in a 6-22 loss and allowing AP Bren to comfortably lead the series, but SRG regained their momentum by winning the fourth and fifth games respectively 18-4 and 12-11. With only one point remaining to clinch the MSC Championship, defending champions Philippines leveled the score by winning the sixth game 14-2, forcing SSR to advance to the decider.

SRG dominated the game and defeated their opponents 21-10, winning the first MSC Championship. SRG jungler Muhammad Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul, also known as Sekyss, is the most valuable player.

SRG took home the trophy and a prize of US$1 million (RM4.7 million)
